DEATH NOTE fans should check out this link to my journal entry regarding Nia and the effects of Albinism: [link]
1,000 KIRIBAN: Won by Ariel-D [link] ! She requested either a fanfic, or a picture of Artemis Entreri's new sword from her fanfiction series. I think she's getting the sword.
Next KIRIBAN: See this [link] journal entry for details. NOTE: This kiriban is on hiatus, partially because no one tagged the 4,000 one, and partially because I don't have time to do one since I shamefully haven't finished the first one yet.

So! Some increadably stupid morons decided to make a site to turn fan fiction into profit. No I'm not joking.
(I'll link at the bottom as i really don't want to aid them in increasing their viewer count.)
Right now, their TOS is worded that they can steal any posted material to make money but if they get sued the ficwriter gets all the blame.
I'm asking everyone to spread the word about Fanlib so we can keep it from screwing any fan over.
Here are various links to fans who explain why this is a very bad site much better then I can.

Making profit OUT OF FANFICTION!? this is not only violating the fanauthor's right, but infringing the ORIGINAL creators as well! Making money of THEIR and their fans WORK!? Ughhh...

Ariel is now talking:
If you are a fanfic reader or writer, or if you are a friend of fanfic readers and writers, please join the resistance against Fanlib. The site flies in the face of everything the fanfic community stands for, and I say that as not only a fanfic reader and writer of 10 years, but as someone who studies fanfic discourse. These are a group of corporate big wigs trying to make a buck off of us, and they don't even understand what we stand for or why we do what we do. Furthermore, they've set up their users to be sued, and in a worse case scenario, this site could spark the legal case that makes fanfic illegal or that makes fanfic legal only when controlled by corporations who will decide what you can post and when. Even if you're the worst writer in the world, you have a right to get feedback on your fanfic and grow to be a better writer. And no one should be able to tell you what you can and can't write. Let the other fans censor you for being OOC--not corporate big wigs who don't even care about your fandom.
Real fanfic writers don't make money for writing--they do it out of love for their fandom. If they want to make money, they write a manuscript and submit it for publication through the appropriate channels. Let's not open ourselves to fire from a bunch of lawyers who don't understand the love and passion we share or the creativity we cherish. And let's not allow other fans and fanwriters to be suckered in by this website.
In short, boycott Fanlib and warn others. If I can figure out any other way to resist Fanlib's efforts before they cause a legal ruckus, I'll update this journal.

And yeah, that's how I view fanfiction too. A fun way to hone skills and share fun stories.

I can't even begin to rant about this. I've had an exhuasting day, but expect a semi-rant in the morning. x.x; Maybe. Maybe not. I wouldn't want to just be blowing hot air everywhere.

The way they highly remark the fact they hold no responsabilities for whatever people submit despite making money out of it makes it even uglier to me.
Besides, I've never felt the fandom (ANY fandom I've been part of) needs to get mainstreamed o_O; We're happy being ignored and unsued, kthx.
